Senior Financial Analyst – Accounting, Advisory, Reporting and Controls

As a Senior Financial Analyst you are responsible for overseeing one of the business units within Canadian tire and also have accepted the challenge for producing financial reporting and analysis for a unique and iconic Canadian retail banner. You are part of a dedicated and energetic team of finance professionals.
You will interact directly with the business and also various partners (Finance and Shared Services, Merchandising and Marketing, Retail Support, Supply Chain and Logistics). You are an accountant, analyst and consultant for multiple levels of management and a valued contributor on various projects and initiatives. Your technical expertise and analytical skills are critical for success, as will your ability to communicate, collaborate and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines. Your experience with accounting and analytical tools will be an asset.
Ensure the financial results are in compliance with IFRS and provide accurate and timely reports and analysis to Management on a monthly and quarterly basis.
Ensure accounting practices are in compliance with our legal commitments.
Preparation and review of significant analyses, entries and reconciliations as part of the monthly financial reporting and review process.
Analyze significant variances and trends. Present findings to managers and senior management.
Provide leadership and assist in the development of other team members.
Effectively manage communications and relationships with business partners, corporate accounting, tax, as well as internal and external auditors.
Build, maintain and recommend improvements on complex financial models with focus on process improvements and automation.
Emerge as the team subject matter expert for financial modeling and retrieval of large data sets within financial systems.
Support business initiatives as they evolve and participate in variety of ad hoc projects as required.
CPA designation (CA, CMA, CGA)
Strong interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships
Attention to detail and an ability to thrive in an environment responsive to changing business requirements
Superior analytical skills, critical thinking and problem solving abilities
Experience in developing and working with financial accounting models and large data sets
Strong IFRS knowledge and proven ability to successfully lead other team members
Advanced working knowledge with Microsoft Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
Retail experience an asset
